When is the best time to move?

Obviously the best time to move is when it's most convienient for you and your family.  However, if you have the flexibility to choose when you move, try to avoid peak moving periods such as the end of the month, summertime, and year-end holidays.

How can I safely ship my computer?

As with any delicate piece of electronic equipment, a few precautionary measures will ensure a safe arrival.  Here are a few suggestions:

  • Make back-up copies of all your data files
  • Remove any diskettes from the disk drives and replace them with "scratch disks"
  • It's always best to ship your PC in its original carton
  • Consult your local computer dealer for their expertise

  • Can a professional mover transport our plants?

Moving plants is both risky and difficult at the best of times. Most movers will transport your plants but won't take responsibility for their final condition.  If you are moving across the border you should contact U.S. or Canadian customs for entry regulations.

Can a professional mover transport our pets?

Provincial laws prohibit the transportation of pets in moving vans. If your pets can't travel with you, ask your moving agent to make arrangements to safely transport them with a Pet Carrier.

Why do movers ship more than one household on a trailer?

To keep costs down for you.  The average trailer holds from 18,000 to 24,000 pounds - the equivalent of three to four households.

BR> Can I ship flammable or combustible items?

It is against the law for movers to transport flammable or combustible items such as leftover paint, turpentine, propane tanks, bleaches, or gas in power equipment.  Safely drain or dispose of all combustible and corrosive materials

How can I reduce the cost of shipping my belongings?

Professional movers determine the cost of your shipment based on density - the combination of weight and cubic volume.  Large odd shaped items decrease space efficiency and increase the cubic volume of your shipment.  So, to keep your costs down, it might not make sense to take certain items such as rattan/wicker furniture, large plastic outdoor children's toys, or large quantities of disposable diapers.
